Software Engineer

The Company
Premier Labellers was founded in 1994 at a small farm in Harwich. Since then we have grown significantly and now reside at our current Bathside Bay site where we manufacture over 120 machines per year, and contract pack millions of product for our customers. We are proud to be one of few remaining true British manufactures of self-adhesive labelling machinery and have a high standard of customer satisfaction.

The Position
We are now looking to add a dedicated full-time Software Engineer to join our continuously growing engineering team. Your role will form a crucial part of our business so you must be willing to take on plenty of responsibility within a small team, and be able to react swiftly and positively to customer requests. This position is semi-physical and where you will be required to assist with electronic components and touchscreens as well as debugging and live testing. We are happy to provide training specific to labelling, but we do expect the applicant to have a very good level of software engineering skills. Overtime hours may be available during busy periods.
Main Duties

Assist in design of low voltage electrical circuits and control panels for machine control - Autocad/Ecad.

Producing electrical panel layouts in Autocad.

Assist in preparation of technical documentation issued to client and our electricians.

Writing / modifying operating software for machine control - (PLC based programs – Siemens S7-1200).

Installation of software to new machines.

Software testing and fault finding.

Technical assistance with supporting customer machines in the field.

Looking at costings on electrical or software items wherever possible.

Communicate with team members on all projects including R & D and advise them of any issues that need to be rectified.

The Ideal Candidate
​

Experience in software engineering.

Experience with Siemens S7-1200 software is a bonus.

Experience with electrical panel wiring and electrical drawings.

A positive and outgoing attitude, even when dealing with difficult situations.

A helpful, teamwork oriented personality is important.

Excellent customer service and communication skills.

The Location and Working Hours
​
This position is a full-time role 08:30–17:00 Monday–Thursday, and 08:30–16:00 on Friday.
You will be located at our facility in Harwich, Essex, CO12 3HF.

Expected Salary
​
Minimum expected starting salary of £40,000 per year.
