P250 LCT - Setting a new benchmark

The LCT (Label Centralisation Technology) system featured on the new P250 high speed front, back and wraparound labelling machine is the latest addition to our extensive range of quality labelling solutions and was developed in direct response to demand from brand owners and contract packers to provide a highly accurate and dependable labelling system, especially when labelling glass containers.

LCT is a software based development for the standard Siemens S7 series based PLC control system installed on the new Premier P250 series machine. LCT’s unique ability is that it is able to actively measure each container that passes the product sensor and then is able to calculate the exact moment at which to feed each label to ensure each product is labelled absolutely centrally. The LCT system proves its worth when labelling glass as it is able to effectively compensate for the inherent variations in size which in turn opens up a whole new range of possibilities for brand owners seeking to package product in glass containers.

Premier Labellers Managing Director, David Palmer, explains “the encoder/motor combination currently used has a 0.2mm resolution which provides an overall +/-0.4mm margin on label placement. It is possible to utilise a higher resolution encoder/motor combination which would give even greater levels of sub-millimetre placement accuracy, should our customers demand it.”

LCT for the Premier P250 was developed by Premier’s design engineers in 2010 and has been proven at several UK blue chip companies during the last 12 months. David Palmer says “Judging by the response and feedback from our development partners and customers, and from all the visitors to Interpack this year, I am extremely confident that once the market place fully understands that we have made a real, positive step forward in labelling technology, everyone will want LCT”.
